Our Mission & Vision

ISRA Team

Mission: To meet the basic needs of the poor, vulnerable and disadvantaged as well as the promotion of Human Rights and the principles, teachings and practices of Islam.

Vision: To complement the efforts of Government and other agencies in meeting the basic needs of the selected targeted populations in The Gambia.

ISRA was founded in May 1990 by an Islamic and committed brother in Islam and other members. The rationale for ISRA's establishment was based on the Quranic statement that "Verily Allah will not change the (good) condition of people as long as they do not change their state (of goodness) themselves (by committing sins and by being ungrateful and disobedient to Allah), (Quran 13:11).

ISRA was officially registered as a Gambian charitable organization in May 1990, acquired NGO status in July 1992, and became a member of The Association of Non-Governmental Organisations (TANGO) in November 1993.

  • Over 30 years of dedicated service to communities
  • Working with partners in all regions of The Gambia
  • Supporting 53 Majalis facilities with 4500+ children
  • Focus on literacy, numeracy, and child protection

Through partnerships with marabout partners and local communities, ISRA provides essential services including literacy and numeracy programs, food aid, livelihood skills training, and advocacy for vulnerable groups.
